Breeding

Special Circumstances

Whether you desire a set of twins or a foal born a week early or late, there will be complications associated with each breeding that you must be made aware of!

Multiple Foal Requests

For births in multiples beyond the herd norms, this requires a Rare Token or Salamander purchase!! Please note in any purchases PRIOR to the breeding being sent in.

While the Nombeko can give birth to as many as three kits and the Scybillines can lay as many as three eggs in a single birth without complications, all other herds usually only give birth to a single foal!  Multiple foals in other herds will be rolled to see whether or not the mother and foal(s) will experience any complications during the breeding.

Once these rolls have been made, they cannot be reversed without a reward purchase being applied before the birth date!

When breeding for twins (excluding Nombeko/Scybilline breedings) there will be a…
- 20% chance that the mother will die giving birth!
- 20% chance that the mother will become infertile/suffer complications.
- 20% chance that the foal will die (each foal will be rolled individually)!
- 20% chance that the foal will be malformed/have ill health.

When breeding for triplets (excluding Nombeko/Scybilline breedings) there will be a…
- 30% chance that the mother will die giving birth!
- 15% chance that the mother will become infertile/suffer complications.
- 30% chance that the foal will die (each foal will be rolled individually)!
- 15% chance that the foal will be malformed/have ill health.

When breeding for specialty quadruplets (Non-Nombeko/Scybilline breedings) there will be a…
- 30% chance that the mother will die giving birth!
- 20% chance that the mother will become infertile/suffer complications.
- 30% chance that the foal will die (each foal will be rolled individually)!
- 20% chance that the foal will be malformed/have ill health.

When breeding for quadruplets (Nombeko/Scybilline breedings only!) there will be a…
- 20% chance that the mother will die giving birth!
- 20% chance that the mother will become infertile/suffer complications.
- 20% chance that the foal will die (each foal will be rolled individually)!
- 20% chance that the foal will be malformed/have ill health.

Premature/Late Foal Requests

If, for whatever reason, you would like your foal to be born premature/late, they may experience complications!  While death isn’t as likely as it is when it comes to birthing multiple foals, it is still possible for the mother, foal, or both to perish during the birth!

There is no limit on how many premature/late foals that may be born in a season.  Once rolls have been completed they cannot be reversed without a reward purchase being applied before the new due date!

When breeding for in-game premature/late foals there will be a…
- 15% chance that the mother will die giving birth!
- 5% chance that the mother will become infertile/suffer complications.
- 10% chance that the foal will die (each foal will be rolled individually)!
- 5% chance that the foal will be malformed/have ill health.

When breeding for starter premature/late foals/characters there will be a…
- 10% chance that the foal will become infertile.
- 15% chance that the foal will suffer health complications.
- 10% chance that the foal will be malformed.

Inbred Foals

Inbreeding is when two related characters decide to do the wazoo, whether they realize it or not!  While inbreeding is not prevented (as it does happen in real life) there will be a roll to determine whether or not your foal will be born with some defects.  By submitting a breeding between related characters,  you thereby submit the foal to these rolls.  No harm will come to the mother and the foal will not die.

When breeding for inbred foals there will be a…
- 25% chance that the foal will come out just fine!
- 25% chance that the foal will be born mute/deaf/blind/infertile (your choice).
- 25% chance that the foal will be born with a physical deformation (your choice).
- 25% chance that the foal will be magically capped (Basic level).

Regarding Nombeko/Scybillines

Unlike the rest of Anomalous, the Nombeko and Scybilline herds have evolved to adapt to their high death/low fertility rates.  Multiple foals/eggs can be birthed without harm coming to the mother or the foals when giving birth to less than three foals/eggs.

Unless a single birth has been requested, all Nombeko/Scybilline breedings will be rolled to determine the number of foals that will be born!  Remember, if multiple foals/eggs are rolled you may choose any number within that range to be birthed!  This means that if you were rolled for three foals to be born but only want two, you do not have to take advantage of the third foal!  It might be nice to offer it to another player, though, especially within the Scybillines!

When breeding a Nombeko there will be a…
- 45% chance of a single foal!
- 40% chance of twins!
- 15% chance of triplets!

When breeding a Scybilline there will be a…
- 15% chance of a single egg!
- 50% chance of two eggs!
- 35% chance of three eggs!

When rolling for Scybilline egg fertility (per egg) there will be a…
- 35% chance of being fertile (1-35)
- 65% chance of being infertile (36-100)

Without a reward purchase, this is the only way to get a fertile Scybilline egg.  May the odds be ever in your favor!

Luckily, Scybilline femmes may be bred once in Autumn and once in Winter to combat this low fertility rate!  Scybilline femmes will lay a clutch of leathery eggs one season (one real-time month) after being bred.  If a femme is bred in early autumn, she may be bred again in early winter!  Femmes who do not take advantage of breeding in the fall cannot bred twice in the winter.  Fertile eggs will hatch one season (one real-time month) after they have been laid.

Height Differences

For foals with sire who is a height of 5 hands or more than the mother, complications nearly always occur for mother, foal, or both due to the likelihood of a foal too big for the mother!  In breedings where the mother is taller than the sire, there usually aren’t complications (other than the amusing matter of how the short sir managed to get to mom’s level).

If you request a breeding from such a pairing you will be warned of the consequences.  Once rolls have been completed they cannot be reversed without a reward purchase!  There is no limit to how many height difference breedings there may be.

When breeding a sire 5 hands taller than the dam there will be a…
- 20% chance that the mother will die giving birth!
- 20% chance that the mother will become infertile/suffer complications.
- 20% chance that the foal will die (each foal will be rolled individually)!
- 20% chance that the foal will be malformed/have ill health.

Inheritance of Rare Mutations/Multiple Magic Strains

When rolling for inheritance of Rare mutations present on parents there will be a…
- 50% chance of being inherited
- 50% chance of not being inherited

When rolling for inheritance of Secondary Magic strain (one parent) there will be a…
- 50% chance of being inherited
- 50% chance of not being inherited

When rolling for inheritance of Secondary Magic strain (two parents) there will be a…
- 75% chance of being inherited
- 25% chance of not being inherited

When rolling for inheritance of a Third Magic strain (one parent) there will be a…
- 25% chance of third strain being inherited.
- 75% chance of not being inherited.

When rolling for inheritance of a Third Magic strain (one parent plus one parent with two strains) there will be a…
- 25% chance of third strain being inherited.
- 50% chance of a secondary strain being inherited.
- 25% chance of not being inherited.

When rolling for inheritance of a Third Magic strain (both parents) there will be a…
- 50% chance of third strain being inherited.
-25% chance of second strain being inherited.
- 25% chance of not being inherited.

How To Breed

Young (5-10) and Elderly (25+) Mares

From the ages of 5-10 and 25+. mares may very well (still) be fertile but giving birth this late/early in the game will be dangerous! On top of any prior rolls (including multiple foals), this roll must be given per foal to determine the likelihood of the mother/foal survival.

When RNGing for young/elderly mare breeding rolls there will be a

  • 20% chance that the breeding will not take!

  • 10% chance that the breeding will take, but the foal will be lost in-utero.

  • 15% chance that the foal will be stillborn.

  • 15% chance that the mother will suffer complications

  • 15% chance that the mother will suffer complications and die.

  • 10% chance that the foal will suffer complications.

  • 15% chance there will be no complications.
