World Information

Familiars of Anomalous

The Anomalopedia!

In Anomalous, the most well-known companions are, of course, our legendary skill and magic dragons! As well as those, players are allowed to have animal companions (within what's reasonable) from our wildlife list.
However, due to group events and giveaways, a few more exclusive companions have cropped up over time; and this is where we're cataloguing all of these! Some of them have mechanical benefits, some of them are just sweet!

Some of Anomalous's familiars, as you can see, provide little perks and bonuses to those they've befriended. Any companion who adds a bonus requires these milestones to use their abilities; however, we encourage all the pet-owners of anomalous to run through them!

Fill the form below in for your pet, drop it into their 'owner's' profile, and go forth into the world!

[PET NAME] [PET TYPE] Tracker

Familiar Name: Insert name of the pet here.

Bonus: Insert appropriate skill boost from the information above
Training Milestones: Complete/Incomplete (If Milestones have been completed, put complete; if not, put Incomplete).

  • First Meeting: Insert link to completed 'First Meeting' Milestone.

  • Obedience Training: Insert link to completed 'Obedience Training' Milestone.

  • Bonding Time: Insert link to completed 'Bonding Time' Milestone.

It should be mentioned that familiars should never be RPed solely by themselves!  RPs involving a familiar must always involve their master in some way, shape, or form (ie, your character must be the main protagonist of the piece and your familiar is a side character).  Skill points will be earned as normal for your character if this is the case.  However, if you post an art piece that only contains the companion (say, a dragon hatching out of an egg for the 'First Meeting' milestone) you can only earn a +1 Skill Point for your character, regardless of whether or not it is a full art piece with a detailed background.

Current Event-Exclusive Companions!

These lads are exclusive giveaways from previous events which have occurred throughout the year. They cannot be bought with tokens or Salamanders, and as such are particularly rare.

  • Black Kitten: This little kitten is simply adorable, although where it came from you can't be sure!  It is quite playful and already seems to be adept at hunting mice.  What a cutie! (Introduced in 2018 Halloween Event)

  • Cerberoose: Your new best friend. A faithful companion. Evil’s worst nightmare. This two-headed (Or more) goose will protect your home from all unwanted visitors. Of course, this may include you… Bringing this companion with you to a fight will grant you +1 Experience. Please state the number of heads (2-4 max) when the token is redeemed. Can look like any existing goose species! (Introduced in 2020 April Fools Event)

  • Cherub-Chilla: These adorable little snufflers are highly coveted pets for any Anomaly who prizes cute little animals! Generally easy-going, they love treats (especially sweet ones!) and are excellent at sniffing out goodies - often looting larders and stores not intended for them. With their tiny size and three sets of wings, these lovable little fuzzballs are surprisingly good at getting wherever they want to go. Bring them with you when seeking treasure and who knows what you might find! +1 Quest Item when featured in Prompts, Dungeons, or Shrines (at mods discretion), or a second roll attempt for more 'special' or exclusive items! (Introduced in 2019 Valentines Event).

  • Direwolf Pup: This pup seems to have lost its mother!  It will grow quite large and be quite dangerous but, if well-trained, it could be an invaluable companion upon your character's travels! (Introduced in 2018 Halloween Event)

  • Dropbear: Similar to the Celestial Dragon, this aggressive little fellow can help you out in a tight spot! This mighty creature may look like a Koala at first glance, but one look at its size and carnivorous teeth prove otherwise... Pick two out of the three physical skills to receive a bonus from this beast! (I.e. Stamina and Agility dragon bonus, etc.) - Australian Bushfires Donation Event, 2020

  • Elysia's Valkyrie BirdQuite beautiful to behold, the newly dubbed ‘Valkyrie’ birds are fierce looking creatures caught somewhere in between a swan and a falcon hybrid. The birds - whose elaborate white plumage is dusted with blue and gold notes that catch the sunlight - are known to be quite territorial and will fiercely protect their masters once they have been properly tamed. Valkyrie pens (females) are just as colorful as the cobs (males), although the cobs will tend to have slightly long tail plumage in comparison to the females (Must completed taming milestones to train the valkyrie; once tamed, can be used in battle to get an additional roll on strength!).

  • Inseparable Lovebirds: These sweet little finches have a lovely song, and a very curious quality to them! Quite apart from their sparkles, they seem to be able to navigate a journey of any length with ease if they are parted, until they find one another again.  If you request that one of the birds accompany your beloved, they will (perhaps reluctantly) separate to do so and can use their remarkable homing skills to carry messages between you both! Or they can just preen and sing around your home and bring you a bit of sparkly joy. (Introduced in 2019 Valentines Event)

  • Lunar Lapine: Soft and always cheerful, you cannot help but smile when looking at these small, rabbit companions. Most active at night, these fluffy companions come in two colour variations: white and gold or blue and silver. Taking these rabbits to a shrine guarantees that the god will give you 1 extra positive item, in return for letting them gaze upon this fluffy adorableness. (Introduced in 2020 Easter Event)

  • Orange Tabby Kitten: This little kitten is simply adorable, although where it came from you can't be sure!  It is quite playful and already seems to be adept at hunting mice.  What a cutie! (Introduced in 2019 Halloween Event)

  • Psuedo-Dragon: This… well. You hesitate to call it a ‘dragon’, exactly, but it looks close enough to the magic dragons who’ve cropped around Anomalous. It lacks their paws and horns, and it’s ears are a little bit long… But it eats meat, fruit, loves onions, and now seems loyally stuck by your side! It’s very sweet and friendly… though it’s cry reminds you a little bit too much of speech to be entirely comfortable, although they seem to be able to pull heavy loads despite their size without tiring. Blame Gaophos, probably. (Introduced in 2019 April Fools Giveaway)

  • Pyrate: Don't be fooled by this tiny pirate...I mean, pyrate. It might look cute, but nothing is safe from its high-level nabbing skills. While each pyrate seems to have it's own taste in what's worth nabbing or not, they generally prefer all things shiny.  Will you ever get back what a pyrate has snatched away from you? Nobody truly knows, but maybe they can be persuaded to take trading into consideration. Come on buddy, I know you like this shiny bottle cap far more than that dirty gold coin! Featuring a fully-bonded Pyrate in an RP will grant you 1 extra prompt roll! (Introduced in 2020 August Special Event)

  • Scarlet Macaw: This colorful bird has quite the vocabulary!  It loves nothing more than to shout pirate-y phrases at passersby, such as ‘Hoist the Sails!’, ‘Avast!’, and, of course, the token ‘Argh, matey!’ (Introduced in October 2019 'The Scarlet' Event)

  • Turkatrice: This bird-dragon hybrid is notoriously bad-tempered and the sound of its menacing call strikes fear into the hearts of all that hear it! This fabulously feathered creature will remain loyal to only its master and, once tamed, can use its fearsome gobble in battle to make even the most seasoned warriors quake in their boots (Levels down both battle participants to 0 Experience Points!). (Art by PrinceJackdaw  )(Introduced in 2018 Thanksgiving Giveaway)

Event-Exclusive Companons
Purchasable Companions!

Of course, there are also familiars that are not event-linked and may be purchased at any time! They do not provide any mechanical bonuses but are narratively useful. These familiars may be purchased with a rare salamander, or redeemed with a rare companion token!

  • Bubblefish: What a cute little fishie! An affectionate little bugger, it will follow you around of its own accord, even out of water! Some kind of magic keeps a protective floating bubble of water around this fish at all times, so it can swim through the air as well! If you decide to let your new friend be the leader for a while, you'll find that they'll lead you right back to the nearest source of water! Can be any fish no larger than a coconut. (Introduced in the August 2020 Mini-Event)

  • The Giant Crab: This crab is not only known for its whopping 2 sets of claws, but for reaching heights between 10 to 12hh! Peaceful by nature, these gentle giants love to forage for food and take care of young ones, making them popular nannies in Hihiri. They come in a range of warm colors with tiger-dun like markings on their shells. When fully bonded and featured in an RP, these creatures provide a +1 skill point bonus to all foals. (Introduced in the August 2020 Mini-Event)
