Leaders: Past and Present

Across the lands, there have been individuals who rise  above the rest and use their skills (or, in some cases, the lack of them) to lead their nations into the next generation!  However, there are always those who are younger or more ambitious who seek to rise to a position of power when the previous leader begins to age/lead a herd down an unsavory path, so challenges to leaders are not uncommon!

Current Leaders

Here, you may see who the current leaders of the various Anomalous herds are and whether or not they are currently active, inactive, or available!  Players of leaders must keep the character at least semi-active and must post at least once RP every two months to keep the position.  Leaders that have not posted an RP for two months will have a       placed next to their name.  This can only be removed when a new art/lit RP has been posted (you get a one month grace period after this to post an RP); note that positions with a       or      required both an in-game character challenge RP (aka, an RP in which Bob publicly challenges Curly for the position) and a staff-rolled fight between the current leader and the challenger in order for a position to be won/defended.  See the leadership key for the various meanings of coloured bullets!

Leader Activity Key:

  •      = Indicates a leader in good standing!  Has met their activity requirement.  IG challenger RP + rolled fights required.

  •      = Indicates a leader that is in jeopardy of losing their title!  IG challenger RP + rolled fights required.

  •      = Indicates a leader that has failed to meet the activity requirement.  Position open for IG audition/challenger RP (no rolled fight) required!

* Fun fact!  If your character has never been a leader before, they will get a one-time Leadership bonus of 50 Skill Points to boost their stats!  If your character fails an activity check and the position is taken over, if your character manages to reclaim the throne they will not get a second leadership bonus.  If you have a character that is in a leadership position and you did not get the Leadership Skill Point Bonus, please note the group in order to claim your reward!

A NOTE TO CURRENT LEADERS!

How to Challenge/Audition!

Now that you know who the current leaders within Anomalous are and whether or not a position is available to be challenged/auditioned for, you're probably wondering how to try out for it yourself if you think your character is up to snuff!  Remember, positions with a  next to them cannot be challenged for either due to plot reasons or hereditary/herd requirements.  If characters within these positions go inactive for extended periods of time without plot-based reasoning, the group will arrange auditions/events to challenge for them.

What is the difference between auditions and challenges?

  • Position Auditions: When a leader has not met activity requirements or a position is not filled for one reason or another, a leadership may be auditioned for!  This means that no IG rolled fight is required.  In order to audition for a position, you must have at least one prior RP with the character audition as well as provide a 1,000 word minimum challenging piece in which your character publicly announces their intention to try for the position!  Open positions are not on a first-come, first-serve basis and only auditions/characters that appear to be suitable for a role will be accepted.

  • Position Challenges: When a leader is still in good standing an in-game character challenge is required!  Challengers must have at least two prior RPs and must provide a 1,000 word minimum challenging piece in which your character publicly challenges the current leader for the position!  A staff-rolled fight will also be required to determine the outcome of the fight (for plotting reasons, if the players of both the challenger/defender agree to an outcome other than the rolled fight, both players must note the group to let staff know of their agreement!). Challengers who fail to best a leader in good-standing may not challenge for one in-game year.

Types of Challenges
To make things more interesting/dynamic, a challenge may not necessarily be settled in personal combat!  If your character just KNOWS they are suited for a particular leadership position but couldn't possibly best the current leader with physical stats alone, why not try their hand at a different type of challenge?  Challenges may be one of three types - Physical Combat, RNG Challenge, or Challenge of Authority.  Read more below!

  • Challenge of Authority: Is your character miffed about the way a certain leader is handling things?  WELL THEY SHOULD DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!  A challenge of authority starts with your character finding at least three individuals that are willing to support them and back them up in regards to their challenge! Saraph Sultan Challenges still also require a rolled fight. Challenges of Authority will be auto-won if a leader has not kept up with their activity check.

  • Physical Combat Challenge: Physical Combat challenges are physical fights between the leader and the challenger!  With this sort of challenge, winner takes all and the winner is determined by a combination of looking at stats and RNG.  Age caps, dragons, and politics do come into play here - so choose wisely!  If you lose, you may be exiled should the leader so choose!  Even if a leader has not met their activity requirements, a fight will be RNG'd to determine the outcome.

  • RNG Challenge: Is your character one who is TOTALLY suited for leadership but maybe doesn't have the guts to gather a following or go toe-to-toe in physical combat?  Well, an RNG may be just the thing!  RNG challenges encompass all other possible ways to try and snag a leadership spot for yourself, even if they may be rather dastardly!  From attempted poisonings to well-timed distractions, RNG challenges can be used to give your character a possible 'in' to leadership without breaking a sweat!  RNG challenges are rolled from 1-100 to determine the challenge's success.  However, the odds here are not in the favor of the challenger with only a 25% success rate as, more often than not, these methods may be dishonorable (Saraphs, I'm looking at you).

How to submit an audition/challenge:
To have your audition considered, please note the group with the filled out form below!  You may submit audition RPs to the group if you'd like to make the audition - whether your character wins or fails - an IG event in your character's life but please note that only RPs noted to the group will be reviewed for the possibility of becoming a leader!  We will also be compiling a quiz for each herd so that we know you know your stuff!  Don't worry, if you get any answers wrong we will just inform you of the correct answers so you know for next time but, in the event of multiple auditions, a bid with more correct answers may give them just enough edge for the win!

The Record of Kings (and Queens!)

While some leaders have made more contributions than others, even the most short-lived monarch's deserve a mention.  For your reference, the Record of Kings/Queens is a list of the most recent/most influential figureheads of each herd.  Some were famous for their good deeds, while others were renowned for their infamy.  Note that the dates listed after the names of these individuals are the years of their rule, not their birth/death date!  Note that you may see a more complete breakdown of the Anomalous timeline at the Anomalous | Event Timeline page.

The Austerian Records

Quiri, Queen: Year 1931 - Year 1943
A queen with a somewhat short rule, Queen Quiri became the Austerian Queen when she was but fourteen years old with the simultaneous and untimely death of both her grandmother (the former Queen Aeronwen) and her mother (Crown Princess Albrea, the would-be heiress) from a deadly sickness.  Thrust into the role without much training, Quiri used the priceless advice of the much older General Nakk, who later became her King.  During this time, King Nakk was rumored to be the brains behind the operation while Quiri was merely a placeholder for the daughter that would replace her.  While Quiri had given birth to several sons, she died at the rather painfully young Austerian age of twenty-five while giving birth to twins without an heir of proper age.

Celebrea, Queen: Year 1943 - Year 1970.
The younger sister of Quiri, Queen Celebrea took the throne at the age of sixteen when her sister passed on.  While not of the most attractive queenly coat, the red-coated Celebrea made up for her appearance by reasserting the glory and validity of the Queen.  Celebrea was renowned for her intelligence as much as her magical prowess and fertility, giving birth to many princess daughters and strong sons with her mate, King Engharad.   Celebrea is credited with reviving the strength of the forest and renewing the herd's faith in their deity, Vae'a.  She passed away in her sleep at the ripe old age of fifty years old, outliving her mate and even a few of her children.

Haraedla, Queen: Year 1970 - Year 1996.
The eldest daughter of Queen Celebrea and King Engharad, Queen Haraedla took on the crown with her mother's passing.  Her rule has been long and fruitful, with the most plentiful harvests and a true peace hanging from the boughs of the forest.  With Haraedla's mental health beginning to fail and her mate, King Cadmael, long deceased, her only daughter, Princess Cadhara, began to prepare herself to take on the throne.  However, before the ceremony could be completed in the Spring of 1992, Auster was attacked by the Shadow Army.  Queen Haraedla was taken prisoner to keep the Austerians still loyal to her docile but, after years of being imprisoned, the elderly queen was eventually killed by the Raven Queen, Enebris, during a battle in the Winter of 1996.  She is buried alongside her sister, Princess Elebrea, beneath the Wishing Tree in Vae'a's Glade.

Cadhara, Queen: Spring, Year 1997 - Present.
In order to become Queen, Crown Princess Cadhara first had to suffer.  Although her mother had intended to make Cadhara Queen of Auster in the Spring of 1992, the hostile takeover of Auster by the Shadow Army changed that.  Forced to flee for her life, Cadhara spent the next few years preparing herself to face the Raven Queen Enebris and take back the forest.  She became fast friends with the Alpha of the Linx, Alexein, and eventually surrendered herself to the Shadows when he was slain in battle by the Shadow Prince, Locke.  Before she could be slain by Enebris, though, an allied Anomalous rose to challenge the Shadows.  In an epic battle to decide who would be the victor, the allied forces proved themselves worthy.  Despite the bloodshed, Cadhara survived and was crowned Queen in Spring of the Year 1997 by her dearest friend, Alpha Alexein, in honor of fostering a new, more peaceful world.  Only time will tell if she will be successful.

The Hihiri Records

Chieftains:

Tanemahua, Chieftain: Year 1947 - Year 1979.
Tanemahua was one of the longest lived and most beloved chieftains the Hihiri herd has ever known.  He was an incredibly kind-hearted individual, with a beautiful grullo coat that began to turn the color of the clouds as he aged.  Tanemahua was only eight when he became chieftain but his natural ability to lead allowed him to step into the role quickly and easily.  While Tanemahua was an efficient and organized Chieftain he and the Warchief that he served alongside, Ueaungore, often did not see eye to eye.  Tanemahua's temper often got the best of him (especially when jokes were made against his younger brother) and he had a violent streak that wasn't befitting of a chieftain meant to settle disputes.  Still, the plenty and relative peace that the herd experienced during Tanemahua's reign was never questioned and, when he was found dead in his favorite sleeping spot on his favorite beach, the herd mourned his passing.

Eketahua, Chieftain: Year 1979 - Year 1991.
The young brother of Chieftain Tanemahua, Eketahua replaced his older brother as Chieftain when he passed.  Eketahua's chieftainship was spectacularly lackluster.  He was a very private stallion that kept to himself; Eketahua settled disputes, made sure everyone was doing their job, and barely remembered to organize the ceremonies he was expected to host but, all in all, Eketahua was not the worst ruler in the world.  Having died from ingesting a poisonous plant (many believe his death to have been far from accidental) in the winter of 1991 without a chosen predecessor (he never had any children, aiding to the rumors that he looked at stallions more than he looked at mares).  With the turn of the the season, a new chieftain has yet to be determined as the gods have been uncharacteristically quiet.

Holokai, Chieftain: Summer, Year 1995 - 2003.
A big, burly former hunter with distinctive crab-like claws, Holokai looks as if he would be an ideal Warchief but, thanks to his gentle manner, proved himself to be just the right fit for Chieftain of the Hihiri!  The first Chieftain of the Hihiri after four years without one, the large heavily built stallion certainly had his work cut out for him.  Famed for his versatility and kindness, he served the hihiri herd very well for eight years, up until the Formaris Events, which cast a large shadow over the herd. After his own daughter, Kelahia, was accused of murdering the Warchief, Holokai suffered with the loss of not only his daughter, but one of his best friends. After a few years of grief, he agreed that it was likely best to hand the reins over to a new Chieftain, a mare by the name of Seashell, and so he trained her for a whole year before quietly settling into a life of 'retirement'.

Seashell, Chieftain: Summer, Year 2003 - Present.
A former gatherer and herbalist of the tribe, Seashell came into power only recently, with a lot going on both in the tribe and in the world to deal with! Power struggles between the Holy One and the Warchief, the lack of blessings being bestowed on the warriors of the herd, strange happenings always seeming to go on in the world- there sure is a storm on the horizon. But, with a full year of dedicated training from the last Chieftain, Holokai, and the support of the herd behind her- time will tell how Chieftain Seashell weathers this storm!

Warchief:

Ueaungore, Warchief: Year 1944-1969.
A mature stallion by the time he became Warchief, Ueaungore was a sight to see.  With a palomino coat adorned with equally golden scales and spike-tipped fins, Ueaungore's success afforded him one of the largest harems the Hihiri herd has seen.  He and Tanemahua, the chieftain he served beside, did not get along in the slightest; Ueaungore did not believe that such a young stallion was fit to lead and the golden Warchief often tried to insert himself into aspects of the herd's leadership that he had no business in.  Things proceeded in this battle of wills for the larger part of the first half of Ueaungore's leadership but, as Tanemahua matured and began to really fill out, the Warchief backed off.  He retired in 1969 after naming Aheahe, one of his eldest sons, his heir.

Aheahe, Warchief: Year 1969 - Year 1985.
Despite his name meaning gentle breeze, Aheahe was far from gentle.  Taking a leaf out of his father's book, Aheahe led the warriors with persistence and ferocity.  Those who opposed him were dealt with publicly, to deter anyone else from causing conflict.  Aheahe's pride and joy were the annual hunting competitions he would hold during the summer in which hunters were required to take down and bring in shark.  It was a messy affair, often leaving several of his warriors wounded but it served its purpose.  Attacks by sharks on the herd were minimal during Aheahe's time as Warchief and the hunters who brought home the largest shark were showered in such splendor that many found the danger of the games of their least concern.  Ironically, it was during one of these shark hunts that Aheahe met his unfortunate end.

Babatunde, Warchief: Year 1985 - Summer, Year 1993..
Upon Aheahe's death, it was Babatunde who was the undisputed nomination to replace their former Warchief.  Ironically another son of Ueaungore, Babatunde's many years of service as a warrior gave him the experience and know-how necessary in order to lead the Hihiri's army!  Babatunde's rule has greatly differed from those of his father and half-brother; born to a very religious mare, Babatunde's calm demeanor and methods of positive reinforcement caused a shift in the way warriors view a successful warchief.  With the bay getting on in years and no longer able to put as much spring in his step as he used to, Babatunde has begun to put feelers out for a new stallion to replace him but, with the unexpected death of Eketahua, he has put on a brave face for the herd until a new chieftain has been chosen and proved capable.  (Currently alive; NPC.)

Loháne, Warchief: Spring, Year 1993 - Spring, Year 2001.
Hand-picked by Babatunde to be his replacement, the blue-scaled cremello stallion had big hoofprints to fill.  At first, he seemed to be doing just fine but, when no stallion stepped forward to become Chieftain, Loháne gained some infamy by suggesting to the herd that mares be allowed to try for the rank!  The herd, for the most part, rejected this idea and Loháne's approval rating plummeted.  After suffering the loss of a mate and the child she bore, the Warchief  kept his head down and focused on doing what he was hired to do - keep the islands safe from outside threats and keep the tribe fed.  However, the cremello stallion met his unfortunate end when he was reportedly murdered by a daughter of Chieftain Holokai (and definitely not murdered by an undercover Shadow!) who fled the islands shortly thereafter!

Kitana, Warchief: Winter, Year 2001 - Present.
In the wake of the former Warchief's murder, Kitana took the opportunity to snatch the title for herself!  As the first female Hihiri to take on the responsibilities of Warchief within living memory, Kitana has plenty to go up to bat against in order to keep the title for herself.  Tough as nails and not afraid to throw her weight around, Kitana is surely up for the challenge!  Only time will tell if she is successful in keeping her position (and true identity as a Shadow Spy) on lockdown!

Holy One:

Kaakahi, Holy One: Year 1932 - Year 1962.
As a foal, Kaakahi was expected to become a warrior like his father; instead, during his Vigil he was given a vision of a vast forest, with boughs heavy with starlight but too tall for him to reach.  The former Holy One saw many things in Kaakahi's vision but knew that Kaakahi had some growing to do before he was chosen.  Kaakahi served as a Gatherer to the herd, growing food for those who couldn't and feeding the elderly.  As his naturally calm demeanor began to overtake the hormones of a young stallion, Arohi, the former Holy One, approached Kaakahi and told him it was time.  Kaakahi learned quickly and, while his connection with the gods was sometimes questioned (especially when he chose Paeta as his successor), the Holy One's loyalty to the herd and his duties did not go unnoticed or unappreciated.  Kaakahi died of an infection from a shark bite that never truly healed at the age of thirty eight after having served as Holy One for thirty years!

Paeta, Holy One: Year 1962 - Year 1977.
Paeta was not born of any form of noble blood.  In fact, when she was chosen as the new apprentice to replace the Holy One, many hotly contested Kaakahi's choice.  Why, in the name of the gods, would they choose an ugly, bastard of a child to take on the most holy role known to the Hihiri!?  But, Kaakahi was firm in his choice and, although it took many years to break through Paeta's wall of anger and resentment, when she finally cleared her mind and forgave the things she could not change, her power and ability to speak to the gods was astounding.  A prolific firebender, Paeta once saved the island of Hihiri from disaster when a lightning strike set the tiny island on fire.  Paeta's hard-won wisdom and peace put her on a pedestal that reminded the herd that, despite the questionable beginnings of any being, everyone has their place and worth.

Ataahua, Holy One: Year 1977 - Spring 1997.
A tiny mare as blue and foamy as the seas, Ataahua was a daughter of the former Chieftain Tanemahua, replacing her mentor as Holy One in 1977 at the age of fifteen.  She has been an unwavering connection to the spirits of the ancestors and an unparalleled counsel when it comes to the ways of the gods for many years, making her one of the most beloved Holy Ones the Hihiri have had in ages.  With her age and body now beginning to fail her, Ataahua has begun to counsel the ancestors to find her new apprentice, that she might impart as much of her knowledge to her apprentice as she can before she wakes to see the sun no more.  Many Hihiri nervously await the individual she will choose to replace her!  Ataahua, at the ripe old age of 35 years, finally passed away peacefully in her sleep, leaving her apprentice Cellophane to take over despite his short time as the Holy One's apprentice.

Cellophane, Holy One: Spring 1997 - Present.
All in all, the journey Cellophane took to become Holy One was far from the standard!  Contrary to most individuals chosen to be the Holy One's apprentice, Cellophane began his journey not as a Shaman but as a Gatherer.  When it was discovered the young stallion had magic, his father brought him before Ataahua for consult on how best to handle it.  The elderly mare asked him once more about the vision he received during his Vigil and, after some deep thought, the Holy One brought Cellophane to the Graveyard and together they dreamed beneath the stars.  From that moment on - much to everyone's surprise - Cellophane became Ataahua's apprentice!  Known about the island for discovering the hidden ruins of Wakainga but extremely young to be named Holy One, only time will tell whether or not the herd believes that they can put their faith in the painted stallion to guide them by the will of the gods...

The Linx Records

Adalhelm the Shade, Alpha: Year 1946 - Year 1958.
Black as night and rather slim, Adalhelm was perhaps not one of the most muscular of alphas but what he lacked in size he made up for in intellect and wit.  Despite being a runt during his childhood, the clever alpha-to-be used his craftiness to his advantage and gathered a following of the strongest and most adept bulls to by advertising (and delivering) himself as one of the most successful trackers of his time. Strangely, those who ran against him or posed a threat to the position of alpha disappeared or died; whether or not Adalhelm was involved in their disappearances was never proven.  Adalhelm's near silent steps and preference for quiet (not to mention the dark rumors that surrounded him) earned him the nickname of the Shade.

Nadezhda, Alpha: Year 1958 - Year 1972.
One of the herd's few female Alphas during their long history, Nadezhda was a force to be reckoned with. Fierce, aggressive, and with an undeniable bite to her bark, Nadezhda was not to be crossed, and led the herd with a no-nonsense attitude especially when it came to issues of borders. The other herds owed them their borders, and that was that, according to Nadezhda. A stayer with brawn hidden under her dark fur, Nadezhda may have seemed a strange choice, especially since she was a mere Gamma by the time Adelhelm retired, but she took Linx by the horns and wrestled it into submission.

Malik, Alpha: Year 1972 - 1992.
Malik replaced Nadezhda when she passed on and has given the Linx twenty years of prosperity and leadership.  A natural leader, Malik was the obvious choice for alpha but did have to compete against other top-notch bull in order to cement his promotion.  The colorful bull ruled with a healthy mix rules and freedoms bestowed upon his herd, allowing the Linx to grow and develop in ways they never have before.  While he is still alive and kicking, an old injury to his aging hips has rendered him unable to lead any more hunts.  Because of this, he chose to retire and chose Alexein to be his successor.  Unfortunately, Malik didn't get to enjoy his retirement for long.  Malik died during the Shadow Siege in Year 1996, only barely mourned among so many others who lost their lives.

Alexein, Alpha: Year 1992 - Autumn, Year 2001.
Alexein became the Alpha of the Linx after his predecessor, Malik, stepped down.  The beginning of his reign as Alpha of the Linx pack was uneventful but that was soon to change.  Just seasons after he was promoted, a silvery doe and her two companions were found within the Linx tunnels.  It was discovered that she was the Crown Princess Cadhara of Auster, who had fled to escape the hostile takeover of their forest by a group of individuals known as the Shadow Army.  Despite coming from different herds, Alexein and Cadhara formed a strong bond and, when the Shadows came knocking, he defied them which eventually led to the Linx being laid siege to by the Shadow Army.  Eventually the Shadows broke through and a bloody battle ensued within the Linx tunnels.  Many Linx, having already been starved by the siege, were weakened and fell.  Alexein himself was stabbed through the heart and pronounced dead but was mysteriously risen back to life just days after the battle.  With limited time, Alexein began to teach his then Beta, Shia, all that he would need to know to take the helm.  Unfortunately, Shia disappeared and was replaced by Lyria; the position of Beta was then challenged for by Aura.  With only a few seasons left, Alexein was forced to do all that he could to prepare Aura for the role of Alphess.  He died in the first days of fall in the Year 2001, mourned by his mate, his children, and the pack as a whole.

Aura, Alphess: Autumn Year 2001 - Present.
Alexein's successor, the tiny but strong maer Aura came out of the gate running!  In the winter season following the former alpha's passing, she quickly put to pack vote her intention to find a new Beta and chose the blonde spotted bjorn, Snorri, as her second-in-command.  Much to the pack's surprise, she also named a Saraph tiercel - Firdausi - as her advisor!  While the opinions of Aura might be mixed, her devotion to the pack is not in question and many believe she will be the one to lead the Linx into a brand new era!

The Nombeko Records

Reed, Overseer: Year 1938 - Year 1951.
A pretty little thing, Reed served as a sentry for the entire duration of her life!  Her sharp eyesight kept her and many others alive during her time and, when the former elder passed on she put herself up for the position.  Reed didn't ask for much and lived simply, keeping to her own quaint burrow and never birthing any kits.  However, she was given the nickname 'Mother Reed', as many understood that she took on each and every Nombeko as her own.  Despite the goodness of her life, Reed's life ended rather badly when she gave her life in order to save a kit who had wandered away from its den and was nearly taken by an eagle.

Lokan, Overseer: Year 1951 - Year 1965.
Lokan's job as an Excavator often kept him out of harm's way.  As such, the large red tom lived one of the longest lifespans known to Nombekos!  The tom's heart was a big as his he was, full of love and tenderness for the little things in life.  He had a large family, siring many children with his beloved, a palomino queen named Winae, who was sadly taken from him when giving birth to what would have been their last litter.  Lokan's influence is still felt in the herd, with many red Nombekos able to trace their lineage back to one of Lokan's children or Lokan himself!

Chuk, Overseer: Year 1965 - Year 1970.
The kit that Reed saved lived to briefly serve as an Elder for the Nombeko!  During a period of high eagle predation, Chuk's grasp on leadership was doomed from the start.  An accident prone tom (and sometimes bullied for the whole Reed death deal), it was a miracle Chuk lived for a year let alone long enough to be an elder.  To add insult to injury, Chuk finally met his eventual end by an eagle but was somewhat influential in getting the Nombeko to pay more homage to Gaophos.

Emerlie, Overseer: Year 1970 - Year 1985.
Emerlie was a kind-hearted daughter of Lokan who was equally as red and as large as her father.  A rather tubby queen, Emerlie had plenty of love to give but, due to an old injury, couldn't have children of her own and resorted to taking care of everyone else's babies to make up for it!  She was an emotional queen, often sent into blubbering fits at things that got her too excited.  She didn't have much of a voice as far as Elders go but, during her lifetime, she did manage to convince group of Nombeko Brutes to take down an eagle, which briefly deterred their main predators from hunting the Nombeko and allowed the herd numbers to increase.

Gowon, Overseer: Year 1985 - Year 1996.
Another ancestor of Lokan, Gowon was once an excavator who crafted some of the most ornate tunnels with his strong paws and magical prowess.  One of the few Nombeko who highly resents Gaophos, Gowon is not afraid to speak out against the primary deity of the Nombeko herd.  This makes the Nombeko as a whole rather uneasy but, during his seven years as Elder, Gowon has befallen no ill will.  The fact that the chestnut tom has not been punished by Gaophos has sparked a heated debate about the truth of Gaophos's existence that has split the Nombeko into two groups - those who believe and those who don't.  Despite the turmoil that he has started, Gowon's knowledge of tunnel building and safety has been and continues to be an asset for the herd. Gowon died in the Year 1996 in the massive battle against the Shadows.

Dawnfeather, Overseer: Year 1996 - Winter, Year 2001.
It was not without grief that Dawnfeather replaced Gowon as Overseer, who was killed during the battle of a unified Anomalous against the Shadow threat.  Dawnfeather was a capable leader, but truthfully did struggle with keeping the clans under control.  Not to mention that it was during her time as Overseer that the mad search for Formaris Stones began!  Focused more on keeping the world safe and secure rather than keeping the clans together, it all began to be a bit much for the queen and it was with no small amount of relief that she stepped down when challenged by Rasiel.  She now resides back with her mother clan - the Featherheads - and has settled down to raise her kits.

Rasiel, Overseer: Winter, Year 2001 - Present.
Not so long after becoming the Reed Clan Patriarch, the pink-colored tom - Rasiel - secured his place as Overseer of the Nombeko.  In a time when the magic of the world was drained, a more present and accomplished leader was just what the Nombeko wanted and so it was that Rasiel replaced his predecessor, Dawnfeather.  Gifted with the ability to see across time, many have put their faith in the Reed Clan patriarch to lead the Nombeko forward and to truly prove that the Clans of the Nombeko Plains are not simply slave fodder for the Saraphs, but a force to be reckoned with.

The Saraph Records

Ammon, Sultan: Year 1967 - Year 1979.
Ammon was born to a wealthy merchant and, later on in his years, inherited (okay stole) the business from his father.  A pompous tiercel who could never have quite enough wealth, he challenged the former sultan (who had only held the title for a year; his name has already been forgotten) and easily overpowered the other tiercel with his size and passion.  Despite his greed, Ammon was a respected sultan for the Saraph, as it was under his rule that trade truly began to boom.

Osiris, Sultan: Year 1979 - Year 1985.
A black tiercel who had the balls to challenge Ammon, Osiris used Ammon's increasing age and slowness to his advantage.  To make sure that none would challenge his rule Osiris showed no mercy to Ammon and killed the former sultan despite his forfeit.  A somewhat deranged individual, Osiris was extremely suspicious and believed that everyone was out to get him or his hens.  Those he felt threatened by he sent on suicide missions, causing him to lose many of the brave tiercels that served as mercenaries for the Saraph herd.  He was rumored to be infertile and only ever sired one daughter before a group of mercenaries mutinied and cut Osiris down in Fire Bird's Gorge.

Taavetti, Sultan: Year 1985 - Year 1994.
The red dun tiercel who formulated the mutiny against Osiris, Taavetti used his intricate network of friends and spies to keep a hold on his position as sultan.  A powerful sultan, Taavetti created a sense of security for his herd that had not been known since before the time of Ammon.  He was a clever tiercel, one who knows when to reward those who were loyal and to cut down those who may have posed a threat to him at the knees.  As sober as a judge, Taavetti kept his friends close and enemies closer, did not dabble in substances that might interfere with the clarity of his mind, and did not let his harem of hens or children become a distraction.  Taavetti was all business and took his position as a matter of life or death.  He was a formidable opponent, one not ready to give up his title, but met his unfortunate end when the night sky parted and a destructive meteor shower sent a space rock careening into the palace, smashing him beneath it.

Khonsu Al-Taj, Sultan: Summer, Year 1995 - Autumn, Year 1996.
Khonsu, an albino tiercel, oversaw a rather short but tumultuous reign!  The tiercel won the herd vote during the Saraph sultan trial of the year 1995 and named the very first Co-Sultan in the form of his half-brother, Alarogan Al-Taj.  The pair forged the Sunstone Council - a group of various hens and tiercel to represent various section of Saraph society - and built a statue in honor of Roth out of the large meteor that decimated the gardens and killed Sultan Taavetti.  While the nation prospered under his wings and Khonsu was blessed by the patron Saraph god, Roth, the previous alliance between the Shadows and the Saraphs caused controversy among his people.  In the large battle against the Shadows versus a unified Anomalous, the Saraphs turned against the Shadows and finally fought back.  Khonsu, however, suffered a terrible curse at the hands of the former Raven Queen, Enebris, and was put into a precarious position.  A deal was suggested by the newly crowned Queen of Auster, Cadhara - in exchange for the freedom of the Austerian slaves, she would remove his curse.  However, before he had the chance to make good on the deal, Otrera, a Saraphem, challenged Khonsu and his brother!  Despite the odds not being in her favor, Otrera triumphed and accidentally ended Khonsu's life when her water magic extinguished his flaming feathers.

Otrera, Sultana: Autumn, Year 1996 - Present.
After a two-vs-one challenge of Otrera versus the Sultan Khonsu and his Co-Sultan, Alarogan, Otrera came out on the other side the victor when she bested Alarogan in combat and inadvertently ended Khonsu's life when her Water magic extinguished his flaming feathers.  Her victory was a ground-breaking achievement for the Saraphs, resulting in not only the first Saraph hen to ever stand upon the throne (at least, as far as their records go) but also the very first Saraphem!  It was a momentous occasion, not unseen by muttering of dissent.  With a deal that will release the Austerian slaves in progress with the Austerian Queen, Cadhara, only time will tell how successful her reign shall be!

The Scybilline Records

Adoy, Grand Master: Year 1951 - Year 1976.
Adoy was Grand Master of the Order for twenty-five years.  Having picked up the title at the exceptionally young age of 15, Adoy's connection with and dedication to Induala was and remains unmatched.  No one knows who Adoy's parents were or where he was born.  Instead, he was found in the middle of the Boondocks by the former Grand Master Ecam.  Ecam saw the appearance of Adoy as a message from Induala and took the young hatchling under his wing as his very own Tyro.  Adoy brought a herd that was threateningly widespread back together and reinforced the supremacy of Induala.  Many believe it is Adoy's loyalty and leadership that lead to the highest fertile clutches that the Scybilline herd has seen in centuries.

Wanobi, Grand Master: Year 1976 - Year 1992.
Having only recently passed away, Wanobi is a greatly mourned.  Continuing the work that his master, Adoy, taught him, Wanobi's hands on methods and clear distinction between right and wrong helped to further the herd's reconnection to Induala.  It was by Wanobi that missions to the outskirts of the territory were begun.  These missions, while seemingly inconsequential, ended up being an essential piece of security that had been missing without anyone realizing it was absent in the first place.  While fertile eggs have dropped in frequency since Adoy's leadership, overall Wanobi's reign as Grand Master was greatly appreciated.  The Order awaits a vision from Induala to determine who will be the next Grand Master.

Cato, Grand Master: Year 1997 -  Autumn 2002.
After five years without a Grand Master, Induala has finally spoken!  Grand Master Cato is a Smoky Black Scybilline covered from head-to-toe in black scales that glow in an alabaster shade beneath the moonlight.  A snake mouth, reptilian eyes, reptilian ears, and a snake tail seamlessly blend Cato into the Order although he can easily be identified by the large scar that covers his entire face and has rendered him blind!  Cato earned this scar during the fire that wrecked havoc in the Boondocks but he deems this as a blessing as it has truly opened his eyes to the power of his Foresight magic.  He may be a bit on in years at twenty-five but his life experience cannot be denied.  Cato, despite his handicap, seems to be all the stronger for it and holds high expectations for the future of the Scybilline.  Magical prowess is his preference and, under his guidance, he hopes that the Scybilline will become the group of renowned night mages that they once were. In the twilight days of his leadership, he challenged several Masters to gain support as his successor, to let the herd's influence choose their next leader.

Dareios, Grand Master: Autumn 2002- Present
Following Grand Master Cato's challenge, Dareios set about gathering support from his fellow Scybilline. From family, to friends, to harder-to-convince fellow masters, who themselves may otherwise have been his competition, he had their support. With Induala's blessing, he looks to the future, ready to lead the Scybilline through the tumultuous post-formaris world...

The Shadow Records

Enebris, Raven Queen: Year 1988 - Winter, Year 1996.
An ambitious doe that quickly rose through the ranks of the Shadows, Queen Enebris was a former Grand Admiral that inherited the position of Raven Queen after her predecessor died of mysterious causes.  Many believe that the former queen of the Shadows was hexed or poisoned and, all things considered, they are likely right!  However, unable to prove anything, Enebris took control of the Shadows with an iron grip and never looked back.  Her reign was immediately followed with success, her training drills resulting in a higher class of Shadow of the likes which had never seen before.  Somehow, she fostered loyalty in the hearts of her followers through fear and shows of power - no one questioned her rule.  It was under her guidance that the Shadows finally took over the Austerian forest, bringing a long sought after aspiration of the Shadows to light.  At her command, the Shadows formed an alliance with the Saraphs and, after a surprising defeat at the paws of the Nombeko clans in the Winter of Year 1995, her forces went on to successfully capture Crown Princess Cadhara from the Linx after a siege that lasted two seasons.  Ultimately, though, her early successes were doomed.  In the Winter of Year 1996, after slaying the former Austerian Queen, Haraedla, a bloody battle between the Shadows and nearly the whole of Anomalous broke out.  In the end, she was carried off by a giant, three-eyed raven and the Shadows were splintered.

Noaxmi, Shadow Queen Dreadnought: Winter, Year 1997 - Summer 2002.
A golden Scybilline that would have been killed merely for her coat color had fate not had other plans!  The golden femme was an avid supporter of the Shadows, realizing a home and a place to belong among their ranks.  She served loyally and faithfully as she learned to enhance her skills in both magic and physical strength.  In the massive battle on what is now known as Sonder Vale between the Shadows and a unified Anomalous, she fought valiantly but, ultimately, saw the end of her life when she sacrificed herself to save Locke - Queen Enebris's son - from what surely would have been a fatal blow.  Her restless spirit roamed the other side for months but, finally, found an ally in the form of the vengeful goddess, Astraek.  A deal was forged that allowed Noaxmi to come back to life and, now with a newfound purpose, she successfully claimed the title of Queen for herself! She lead the shadows with a particular emphasis on togetherness. The Shadow Vanguard was, under Noaxmi, turned from an army to a family. While they remained a ruthless group, driven to earn themselves a homeland, somewhere where they belonged.
Following the hunt for the Formaris stones, they did, gaining first the Penumbra Citadel, then it's magical guardian, and finally the majestic Skymarr island; a true home for the shadows, away from the other territories of Anomalous. They may have failed to tip the balance in Astraek's favour, but what Noaxmi had promised them had come to pass regardless.
Due to Astraek's fury at just about failing to come out on top, Noaxmi found herself stripped of her magic by the furious dragon Goddess. Still, she refused to let the Goddess strike her down, bargaining instead for the remaining years of her life, in return for the cost of her magic. This, the Goddess agreed to, and Noaxmi stepped down to allow the linx bjorn Ifrit, a raider of great renown who had worked tirelessly during the Formaris stone hunt, to take up the mantle of the Shadow Dreadnaught.

Ifrit, Shadow King: Summer 2002- Present
The first male leader of the Shadows in recent memory, Ifrit was a popular bjorn, son of Linx omegas who turned to the Shadows for a chance at a better life. His size, strength, and magical talent gained him some infamy, and he was popular amongst the shadows. During the Formaris stone hunt, he proved exemplary in his ability to collect the coveted dragon scales, and was involved in the raising of the Penumbra citadel itself. That very winter, he worked himself to the bone as one of the very few fire mages still able to cast a light, and insured all of the shadows had somewhere warm to shelter in their new stone home. Noaxmi lost most of her magic to the angry Goddess, Astraek, Ifrit sought her out to speak. "Power in this herd must be earned from your fellows.", she told him; and he took these words to heart, seeking approval from other Anomali within the shadows, before presenting himself to them at a meeting, called as Astraek's shrine.
"Would you left me continue Noaxmi’s work and steer us into our future?" he asked- and the herd replied to the great bjorn with a resounding yes.
