Quest Items

Quest Items are exactly what they sound like - items collected by completing various prompts or quests!  Note that Quest Items are different than Tokens or Salamander Rewards.  They are automatically placed in a characters Quest Item bank for the character that earns them, although your character can trade them with other characters, offer them to a shrine (more on that in a bit), or use them for themselves!

  • Trades, shrine offerings, and item applications (mutations, stat boosts, etc) to a character must occur in-game. If your character no longer wants an item, they must trade it it away in an RP! The RP must be a VALID and submitted group RP - so Minimum 200 words and with recognizable characters!

  • The party who is giving away the item MUST be the one to send in a note regarding the item trade. The RP can be a collaboration, or done by either the person giving the item away or the person receiving the item. You may not have an non-involved user RP the trade for you.

You can see what you have in the combination quest item + loot lookup!

Each item has its own set of unique properties and characteristics.  While some are best used simply as a trinket others might gift your character with increased skill levels or special abilities!  You will notice that items have elemental alignments.  These often indicate what powers the item might have but, more importantly, they are taken into consideration when being offered to a god/goddess at their Ancient Shrine!

Items collected during these quests/prompts are based off of the location where an RP takes place and a randomly generated number that determines the number and rarity (Common, Uncommon, Rare, Extra Rare, or Legendary) of the items your character found.  Therefore, some items cannot be found unless your character visits a specific location.  You can accept or decline an item at the time the item is RNGed for your character.  For instance, if your character just simply has no desire to lug around a large rock, you can choose then and there if he/she leaves the item behind!  Be warned, items left behind cannot be reclaimed.

For those that are curious, here is how we roll for items earned!

  • In accordance with a particular quest's or prompt's constraints, a RNG is used to determine how many items your character finds.

    • For example, the 'Weathering the Weather' prompt can drop up to three items.  A RNG from 1-3 is rolled to determine how many items your character finds!  Let's say, for example, the RNG decrees that your character has found the maximum of three items.

  • Once the number of items has been determined, the rarity must be rolled for!  Again, a RNG is used to decide how rare the item is.

    • Rarity RNGs are as follows:

      • Common Items (1-50)

      • Uncommon Items (51-70)

      • Rare (71-85)

      • Extra Rare (86-95)

      • Legendary (96-100).

    • Following our example, the three items are RNGed and the results are as follows: 81 (Rare), 73 (Rare), and 37 (Common).

  • Now that the rarity of the items has been determined it is time to decide what the actual items are!  Based on the location of the RP, staff has a behind-the-scenes list of items that can be earned from that location organized neatly by rarity.  A staff member will use one final RNG to determine what exact item was earned.

Items owned by your character are not automatically applied to them!  In order to apply an item - and, thereby, its benefits - to your character, note the group with the completed form!

  • Quest Item #: You can find this in Column A of the Quest Item Bank.

  • Character Item Being Applied To: What character is this item being applied to?

  • Intended Use: What is your intended use for this quest item (ie, what skill is the bonus being applied to, etc)?

  • RP in Which the Item is Applied/Traded/Shrined: This can be Art or Lit, and usage of the item must be seen/mentioned!

Items earned in Prompts will automatically be validated and ready for use.  Items collected during a dungeon, however, are not validated until the quest has been completed and you have posted your final RP piece!

Curses from Ancient Shrines and Dungeons

These curses are not your normal, run of the mill illnesses and can be quite detrimental to your character over time! They are required to be taken to a PC character with Legendary Herbs or Esprit magic to have their issue diagnosed (And subsequently given options to fix it)! NPC healers are not quite that skilled, and cannot give proper advice for anything past normal aches and pains.
