Dungeons and Prompts
Prompts
What these prompts and quests aim to accomplish is to allow you, the player, to further explore the world of Anomalous. Not only that but, by completing these prompts or embarking on a quest, your character can collect juicy items/rewards and encounter various challenges that they must try to overcome. Some prompts or dungeons may lead to encounters with nefarious creatures or even a god/goddess and, with various outcomes depending on what choices your character makes, they may challenge the same dungeon more than once and not follow the same path! In addition to catching some super cool items to help your character in their travels, since all prompts/quests require RPs you will also earn some Skill Points for your character!
Note that all Prompt RPs should be submitted to the appropriately named gallery folder and and must CLEARLY STATE what prompt they are completing in the Artist's Comments!

Prompts are short and simple 'mini-quests' if you will. They are generic one-and-done prompts in that, by completing a minimum of a 350-word literature RP, a Headshot/Partial Body with Detailed BG art RP, or a Full-body with No/Simple BG art RP, you will automatically be given a roll to determine your character's success. You're welcome to collaborate on pieces for prompts, however, each player character must meet the requirements of minimum 350-word literature RP, a Headshot/Partial Body with Detailed BG art RP, or a Full-Body with No/Simple BG art RP! Split POV literature pieces must also meet the 350 words/character limits.
Prompts generally do not put your character in harm's way; rather, they are a simple way for you to get to better know not only your character but the world they live within.
There is no limit to how many times your character may complete a prompt and, while a few may require your character to be in a specific location or be a minimum age, there are generally very few restrictions on who can attempt to complete the prompt. Scroll down to the 'Prompts List' to see what prompts are currently available to your character!
Unlike Dungeons/Shrine Offerings, Prompts may be backdated! However, a brand new RP must be submitted in order to complete the prompt. Be sure to check out any special requirements for the prompt, such as location or season, before you submit your RP. Old/already accepted RPs cannot be used to complete a prompt.
Literature prompts with enough/or surplus word count (700+) per character may receive two rolls, but only two rolls per character per literature rp.
Prompt List
Ancestral Roots
Your character has stumbled upon a dusty tome from a bygone age. The title is partially rubbed away but, judging by the recipes inside, it must have been a book on medicine. Inspired by the many healing remedies from the book’s author - an Austerian doe named Remelodi - your character has decided to put one of the potions to the test! First things first, you have to get the ingredients. Most of these are readily available. However, the potion calls for the roots of a plant called Fangroot and, unfortunately for you, no one seems to know what the heck Fangroot is! Remelodi describes the root as ‘an unassuming plant with straight leaves and quaint, cream-colored flowers; roots have a white exterior but, when peeled, has a juicy, blood-red interior’. She also has penciled in a crude map of where it might be found - according to her, it grows somewhere near Lake Vesta...
-
Special Notes: RNG used to determine success of finding the Fangroot!
-
Special Requirements: Must be set within Lake Vesta, Free-Roaming Territory.
-
Possible Drops: Fangroot & Fangroot Potion (Only rolls 20-40 equal success!).
Autumnal Caribou Hunt (Linx Only)
Every autumn since anyone can remember, the Linx pack have geared up for a winter locked within the mountain with a grand hunt of migrating caribou! Now that the tunnel is being built to keep the Linx from ever being mountain-locked again, this hunt stands as a way to honor their ancestors, fill their freezers, and test their skills as hunters! Depict your character participating in the caribou hunt. Remember, hunting parties primarily are organized by Deltas and consist of - at minimum - a Tracker, a Stayer, and a Sprinter. If your character isn’t a Delta but wants to hunt, simply gather two of your PC friends (or two NPCs) to get your hunt on!
-
Special Notes: If a full, PC hunting pack is arranged, bonus +1 Item per character; Linx only!
-
Special Requirements: Must be set within Linx territory.
-
Possible Drops: Caribou Meat, Caribou Hide, Caribou Skull (Only rolls 1-25 equal success if hunting solo; if with an NPC group, 1-35 equals success; if with a PC group, 1-50 equals success).
Astraek’s Comet
After the Formaris dragons were released a deal was struck, allowing Astraek to officially return to her seat beside the other deities and finally restoring balance to the heavens! With her powers now completely restored (and her vengeful thirst quenched… for now) the dragon goddess wants to remind the world of her ascendance! Astraek’s Comet can now be seen once a year flying slowly across the skies of Anomalous in the summer season. Red in color and quite large, the comet can be seen during both daytime and nighttime hours but doesn’t stay long. Those who view the comet at night say that the comet takes on the appearance of the dragoness herself as she eagerly watches over the mortals of the world from above!
-
Special Notes: It is not uncommon for magic to go a little haywire when Astraek’s Comet is seen in the sky...
-
Special Requirements: Must be set in the summer season, but can be seen during both nighttime and daytime hours; can be completed from the Summer, Year 2002 onward!
-
Possible Drops: 1-40 (No Drops); 51-80 (1 Item Drop Based on Location); 81-100 (Comet Dust).
Black Night (Scybilline Only)
It is a treacherous night for, tonight, Induala’s watchful eye does not shine above you and there are only stars to brighten the night sky. This is a night for devils and demons to run rampant. Some Scybillines stay in their dens to wait out the bad omen while others must still step out into the moonless night to do their jobs. Still others are daring (or stupid?) enough to adventure on such a sinister night. Depict how your character reacts to the lack of moon in the sky!
-
Special Notes: Occurs during a New Moon (no moon).
-
Special Requirements: Must be set within Scybilline territory.
-
Possible Drops: 1-3 Items.
Coronation Ceremony | Occurs in three different circumstances! (See Below)
When the eldest princess of the Queen comes of age (~ Spring of 3 years of age, when she is proven to possess Esprit magic) and can be appointed as Crown Princess, when the Queen retires and the torch is passed to the Crown Princess, or when a King is chosen! Since these events do not happen very often, it is a source of mass pomp and celebration. Held in the afternoon with a hors d'oeuvres of fresh fruits, the ceremony itself is rather quick and straight forward beneath the boughs of the White Oak. However, the rest of the day is spent partying and socializing with the newly crowned heir, queen, or king! Business and trade of any sort on this day is seen as rude, as all those belonging to the herd are expected to attend - regardless of rank - and bestow their congratulations and loyalty to the newly crowned individual!
-
Special Notes: Must feature/mention the coronation of a Crown Princess, a Queen, or a King!
-
Special Requirements: Must be set within Austerian territory.
-

-
Special Requirements: None.
-

Elysia’s Valkyries (Saraph Territory Only)
In the Autumn of Year 2001, the young Saraphs Skiamaki and Illumine ventured to the Mirror Pools and offered their Formaris Water Scales to Elysia’s Ancient Shrine! In the wake of the dragons that they raised, a swarm of dog-sized birds rocketed toward the sky! Quite beautiful to behold, the newly dubbed ‘Valkyrie’ birds are fierce looking creatures caught somewhere in between a swan and a falcon hybrid. The birds - whose elaborate white plumage is dusted with blue and gold notes that catch the sunlight - migrate around the Saraph territory, alighting wherever the wind seems to take them and hovering around bodies of water. Territorial, they are fiercely protective of their desert home and - in particular - seem to hold a particular sense of vengeance against the newly arrived sandwyrms that have infested Saraph’s deserts. It is said that, if one possesses a feather of a valkyrie, that a flock of them can be summoned in a time of need… Depict your character interacting with an individual bird or a flock of the valkyries. Who knows, maybe they’ll get lucky and find something interesting to take home!
-
Special Notes: Try not to piss the valkyries off! They are known to have quite a temper!
-
Special Requirements: Must take place in Saraph Territory! May be completed from the Spring, Year 2002 season onward.

Racers must fly at high speeds through the twists and turns of Fire Bird’s Gorge; not only must they be careful of the terrain but they must also be ready to defend themselves against the other competitors, as there are no rules against sabotage! Depict your character watching the race (no skill requirement) or participating but, remember, only the fastest and most agile Saraphs can actually compete (Agility of Medium or higher required to participate).

Nasty Butters
From a young age, all Scybillines are taught how to defend themselves against one of their more unique enemies - predatory butterflies! There are two varieties - those that fly by day and those that fly by night. Day time butters are very similar to a Monarch in appearance while lunar butters have black bodies with silvery wings. Regardless of the type, both varieties inject their prey with a poison so strong that it melts flesh to a liquid they can easily suck up with their proboscis. While the Scybillines don’t have to deal with the daytime butterflies all that often they do, unfortunately, have to handle the far nastier night fliers! Luckily, when these lunar butterflies flap their wings, the action briefly lights up the powder on their wings in a bioluminescent seafoam color! Depict your character dealing with one of these creatures - whether that be by fleeing, fighting, or otherwise.
-
Special Notes: RNG to determine if your character was bit or not by the butterfly! If bit, character must seek out Poison mage to get antidote. Poison mages automatically immune to bites.

To Have and to Hold
The son of a respectable lord and lady has just married the love of his life! As beautiful as the lovely bride is, the groom’s parents are clearly less than thrilled about her lineage (that of a commoner). Still, the groom’s parents have wasted no expense at making sure their son’s wedding celebration is the talk of the town! The Queen’s Revival (Auster Territory Only)
In the Spring of Year 2001, a Water dragon offered to Astraek in the forests of Auster released havoc upon the beloved ancient shrine of the demigoddess, Vitae’a! Acidic rain fell over the area, burning ugly pockmarks that marred the likeness of Vitae’a and an underground spring gurgled into existence, flooding the once pristine glade with swampy, smelly water. The Wishing Tree saplings - grown and tended so carefully over the years into the likenesses of the queens whose graves they grow over - are suffering as well, wilting and blistering with disease. It will take some dedication and time to try and restore Queen’s Landing to its former glory but it is a task worth taking! It seems able to size itself to any Anomali that owns it, cannot be flipped inside out, and is of use in all weathers!
-

May 2022 | Weather Rolls: - This is also detailed in the Group Announcements on Discord.
In Linx, the weather proves to be... damp. The meltwater from the snow, the receding floods, and the unending springtime rain has turned everyhting into sludgy mud, and the water mages are working overtime.
In Saraph, the spring winds have whipped up horrendous sandstorms, covering everything in a layer of grime. Sandworms, growing bolder, are coming closer to the garden of Elysia than ever!
However, it is the Renegades territories that are having the worst time! It seems that most of the unallied lands are having an even worse time than Linx at the moment, with heavy rain and serious flooding causing problems for the residents of the various unaffiliated areas. The herds, despite their own problems, should probably help out...
April 2022 | Help! I lost my gravity!

April 2022 | Weather Rolls: - This is also detailed in the Group Announcements on Discord.
Hihiri is having a beautifully mild winter, with temperatures remaining steadily warm. Many, Many sunny showers, but at least they don’t mind the wet!
The Shadows are enjoying a very cold, but pleasant winter; the altitude and a layer of cloud is saving them from the chaos down below.
Linx are having the absolute worst winter on record. Legendarily bad, their paths out of the tunnels are blocked with hard-packed snow. Anybody brave or stupid enough to use a water mage to get out will be subject to injury rolls (though with a medium or higher fire mage, this damage can be mitigated) On top of this, there have been reports of flooding in the Lower tunnels, leaving Alphess Aura on high alert in case she needs to act fast and deal with any sudden developments.

October 2019 - Monthly Prompt | The Scarlet
While many a ghost story have survived through the ages by retelling, only recently has the legend of the Scarlet resurfaced! Arguably found on an ancient scroll unearthed by someone looking for the Formaris Scales, the story written on the scroll tells the sad fate of an ancient vessel crimson in hue dubbed ‘The Scarlet’ that sank after being caught in a cold and dangerous northern storm. While no one has ever found evidence of the legend being true, it seems the magical outfall from the arrival of the Formaris dragons may have awakened the spirits of those who perished aboard the ship. Sightings of a ghostly vessel sailing along the rivers, lakes, and oceans of Anomalous have been reported across the continent; strangely, the sightings seem to be synchronized with short but intense rainstorms! Those who have seen the ship tell of its tattered sails and frost-covered crimson hull, a ghostly wolven crew, and the strangely chilly fog that heralds its approach… Depict your character in an art/literature RP either hearing about the Legend of The Scarlet OR spotting the ghostly ship sailing along the coast or within one of the many bodies of freshwater in Anomalous… if you dare!
-
Special Notes: Must include something pertaining to The Scarlet and its crew, be that the telling of the legend or spotting - at minimum - the approach of an unnerving cloud of fog along a nearby waterway!
-
Special Requirements: Must be set in Summer, Year 2002 of the Dragon Era.
-
Possible Drops: Sea Biscuit, Lookout’s Charm, Swashbuckling Spurs, Ship’s Lantern, Variegated Wolfsbane, Silver Wolf Coin, Booming Blunderbuss, Piece of Eight, ‘X’ Tattered Map Piece, ‘Desert’ Tattered Map Piece, ‘Forested’ Tattered Map Piece, ‘Coastal’ Tattered Map Piece, Ultimate Pirate Hat, Shipbuilder’s Scroll
September 2019 - The Dragon Era Prompt
In the Spring of Year 2002, three full-sized Formaris dragons - one Air, one Water, and one Earth - were finally freed from their heavenly bonds by Actaeos and released into Anomalous. While these massive, divine beasts can make even the northern mountains look small, they appear to be quite gentle and can be seen peacefully floating across all of Anomalous. It is said that, sometimes, the dragons will bestow gifts upon the mortals below. But, first, you need to catch a glimpse of one! Draw or write about your character catching a glimpse of one of these majestic dragons! Be careful not to get too close though, as these beasts are best viewed from a respectable distance. Such intense, raw magic courses through their veins that they have a sort of magical shield about them that may render a mortal temporarily unconscious if they wander too close!
-
Special Notes: Remember, these dragons are MASSIVE and can be seen across vast distances! Please only include ONE dragon in your RP, as their paths do not cross.
-
Special Requirements: Must occur in the Spring, Year 2002 of the Dragon Era and must feature your character spotting one of the Formaris dragons (Air Formaris, Earth Fomaris, Water Formaris); can occur anywhere in Anomalous!
-
Possible Drops: 1-20, 31-40, 51-70, & 81-90 = No Item, 21-30 | Dragon Scale (Type varies depending on the dragon being featured), 41-50 | Dragon Claw (Type varies depending on the dragon being featured), 71-80 | Dragon Horn (Type varies depending on the dragon being featured), 91-100 | Powdered Dragon's Tooth.
August 2019 - The Winter Where the World Held Its Breath
The time for dragon raising and shrine building has passed - now the residents of Anomalous must wait, wait while the Gods sort themselves out, and pray that the scale tips in a favourable balance. But something unforeseen happens; as the first snows of winter begin to fall, replacing the rains and magical thunderstorms of the last six months, it seems as if the magic in the world has drained of energy. Magic dragons and their companions, the new Celestial dragons, are sluggish and unhappy, wishing mostly to curl up and sleep. The most powerful mages can barely manage the simplest spell, and those with a low level of magic can manage nothing at all! Magic-based mutations wither back and fade, and overall, the world is left a far more mundane place than it has ever been. Like the tide drawing back before a tsunami, every creature in anomalous knows that something magical and immense is building, about to come crashing down upon them.
The question is; what?
-
Special Notes: Note that ALL magic users are temporarily capped by TWO levels for the entire Winter season!
-
Special Requirements: Must be set in Winter, Year 2001.
-
Possible Drops: 1-2 Items based on location.
July 2019 - The Eye of the Storm II
All the dragon raising and divine magic shaking up Anomalous is having widespread repercussions! If anything, the strange and unnatural phenomenon have become more frequent. It is now rare to see a sky free of ominous looking clouds that, hourly, spark and sizzle with colorful bolts of lightning; minor earthquakes, not large enough to be destructive but certainly enough to give one a fright, shake Anomalous along its fault lines; and, despite the summer season, powerful gusts of wind and drizzles of rain occur around the clock. The already swollen rivers across Anomalous are rising higher than before and flooding frequently, making an already wet, muddy, and miserable situation worse. On the bright side, at least the salamander seem to be enjoying the changes, as their population blooms in flood areas.
-
Special Notes: None.
-
Special Requirements: Must be set in Autumn, Year 2001 and must feature character experiencing/interacting with one of the magical fall-out events.
-
Possible Drops: 1-25 (Bottled Lightning), 26-50 (Fairy), 51-75 (Charged Rainwater), 76-100 (Ominous Smoke Jar)

November/December 2018 -The Tournament of Champions
Ah, the Tournament of Champions! Every year, Austerians - and, as of Year 1999, Anomalites of all shapes and sizes - flock to Auster to either test their strengths against others or watch the games unfold! Whether you are participating in a class or not, there is so much to see and explore. From the tree branches above you hang a myriad of colorful flowers, mosses, and braided vines for decoration while, below, small stands line the walkway with equally colorful items ready to be sold! Fragrant aromas of Austerian cuisine reach your nostrils and the laughter of children dash by, carrying streamers in their maws toward any tree whose trunk has not yet been wrapped for the occasion. Music floats above the noise of the festival grounds, although now and then it is drowned by the cheers of the audiences as they watch their favorite champions compete in the various games.
